Follow these simple steps to make sure your tyres are safe, legal and ready for the road.
1. Check Tread Depth
Use a tread depth gauge or the 20p test. Insert a 20p coin into the tread grooves and if the outer band is visible, your tread may be below the legal limit of 1.6mm
2. Inspect Tyre Pressure
Check your tyre pressure using a gauge or at a service station. Compare the readings with your vehicle’s recommended levels, usually found in the manual or on a sticker inside the driver’s door.
3. Look For Any Damage
Examine each tyre for cracks, bulges, or embedded objects. Also check for uneven wear, which could signal alignment or suspension issues.
4. Check Valve Condition
Ensure valve caps are secure and there are no signs of leakage. Faulty valves can lead to gradual pressure loss and reduced tyre performance.
