Alfa Romeo unveils the new Tonale, marking a new chapter for the brand's global C-SUV model, which now offers a broader range of colours and trims. This latest evolution is a significant milestone in the journey of Tonale, the first C-SUV from Alfa Romeo, with targeted enhancements to amplify its sporty character and unmistakable Alfa Romeo design. Internationally acclaimed and embraced by customers, the new Tonale refines the brand’s core strengths, – perfect weight balance, typically Alfa Romeo driving dynamics, segment-leading technology and powertrain solutions – adding appeal to the distinctive design.
Design that inspires emotions
For Alfa Romeo, beauty is never an abstract concept; it is the result of the perfect balance between harmonious proportions, sculpted surfaces, muscular lines and technical functionality. It is a form of ‘necessary beauty’, where every detail serves a clear function in defining the car’s character. The new Tonale fully embodies this philosophy, drawing on the brand's unparalleled design heritage while reinterpreting the timeless stylistic features that have contributed to its global success. At the front, a new three-dimensional concave ‘Scudetto’ grille is introduced, inspired by the historic 33 Stradale and GT 2000. The legendary Trilobe has also been reinterpreted to enhance the sense of horizontality, at once giving the Tonale an even more grounded and confident stance. The lower air intakes reinforce the family connection with Alfa Romeo Junior, while the added side openings draw inspiration from the racing language of the iconic Giulia GTA and GTAm.
The balance of proportions has been further through a reduced front overhang and a wider front and rear wheel track, enhancing both stance and dynamic presence. Its profile immediately draws attention with the introduction of new 19-inch Stile wheels, which remain true to the design tradition of Alfa Romeo, and 20-inch Fori wheels, with a lighter, more technical and contemporary look. Completing the aesthetic updates are the black and white Alfa Romeo emblems at the front and rear, consistent with the strategy introduced with the Junior, and black Tonale rear lettering on the Veloce and Sport Speciale trims.

Interior
The passenger compartment of the new Tonale has evolved with premium materials and refined details, introducing new colour and finish combinations, such as the new ‘cannelloni’ (ribbed weave) seats upholstered in red leather with coordinated stitching or in two-tone black/white Alcantara. Attention to detail continues throughout the cabin with contrasting stitching on the dashboard, door panels and armrest, varying according to the type of seats selected. Both leather and Alcantara interiors feature premium seats with eight-way electrical adjustment in the front, four-way electrical lumbar support, heating and ventilation while the steering wheel and washer nozzles are also heated for complete comfort in all seasons. The new rotary gear selector, positioned on the redesigned center console, combines modern functionality and operation, while allowing drivers to shift gears using the iconic billet aluminium paddles on the steering wheel.
Broader colour palette
For Alfa Romeo, colour is more than an aesthetic choice - it is an emotional language, a hallmark of passion, innovation and the Italian spirit. To celebrate this dimension, the colour palette for the new Tonale has expanded to eight shades, with the introduction of three new metallic finishes: Brera Red, Monza Green and Ocra. Each colour enhances the car’s volumes and lines, joining the existing Alfa Black, Alfa White, Vesuvio Grey, Montreal Green and Misano Blue. An optional contrasting black roof, also available with sunroof, further enhances the dynamism and elegance of Tonale, an ideal way to make each vehicle distinctly unique.
Driving dynamics: the essence of Alfa Romeo DNA
At the heart of every Alfa Romeo is the ability to transform technology into driving emotion – a philosophy that defines new Tonale. Mechanics and electronics work together in harmony for pure driving pleasure. The unmistakable handling of Tonale is achieved through a perfectly balanced chassis with optimum weight distribution, independent McPherson suspension with sporty calibration at both the front and rear, four-piston Brembo brakes and the most direct steering in the segment with a ratio of 13.6:1. These solutions are complemented by advanced technologies including Dual Stage Valve (DSV) electronic suspension or alternative Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorbers, the brake-by-wire system seen on the Giulia and Stelvio, and Q4 AWD all-wheel drive on the Ibrida Plug-In, ensuring the ideal balance of stability, safety and driving dynamism. Aluminium paddle shifters on the steering column allow for maximum engagement when changing gears while Alfa DNA selector lets drivers tailor the car’s character to their preference. The result is a driving experience that embodies the essence of Alfa Romeo: agility, precision, reliability and unique ability to excite every driver. Objective performance confirms the capabilities of Tonale with fast cornering times matching those of the Stelvio, the benchmark among SUVs for driving pleasure. The new Tonale has evolved further with an augmented wheel track, to reduce roll and understeer, with engines that have been updated to the Euro 6E-bis standard delivering 175 hp for the Ibrida and 270 hp for the Ibrida Plug-In. A refined Hybrid Control Processor delivers more prompt, linear and seamless power, making transitions between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor virtual imperceptible for comfort and smoothness. New Tonale is offered with a line-up of engines designed to meet differing market and customer demands.
The Ibrida has a four-cylinder 175 hp 1.5 Turbo engine with variable-geometry turbo (VGT), designed exclusively for the Tonale, paired with 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive, representing the latest evolution of the brand's 48V hybrid technology. The top of the range is the Q4 Ibrida Plug-In variant, with an electrified all-wheel drive and 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering 270 hp, the maximum expression in terms of the new Tonale’s performance and technological efficiency.
Technology to simplify, safety to reassure
The new Tonale offers a comprehensive technology package, designed to deliver segment-leading safety, connectivity and comfort, in line with the brand's approach of using technology for the service of the driver. The 12.3-inch Telescope digital instrument panel and 10.25-inch Alfa Connect infotainment system with customisable multitasking interfaces for a smartphone-like experience to manage in-car functions. Connectivity is seamless, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alfa Connect digital services and over-the-air (OTA) updates, ensuring the vehicle’s software is always up to date.
With a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, new Tonale has outstanding safety and comes with a suite of advanced Level 2 driving assistance systems, including Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Traffic Jam Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Path Detection, Driver Attention Monitoring, as well as the traffic sign recognition system with Intelligent Speed Assist and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. In addition to these features, two modern technologies improve comfort and simplify driving: high-resolution 360-degree camera with ‘drone view’ and semi-automatic parking, which facilitate manoeuvers in all conditions. In-cabin comfort and enjoyment are elevated with a range of premium features including a 470-W Harman Kardon audio system with 14 speakers and subwoofer, ventilated wireless smartphone charging, hands-free electric tailgate, dual-zone climate control with AQS sensor, electro chromatic rearview and wing mirrors and heated and ventilated front seats.
New line-up strategy
With its new line-up strategy, the Alfa Romeo Tonale strengthens its position in the market by offering a comprehensive range that meets the needs of a wider audience. This approach balances accessible pricing with the introduction of a new entry-level version, making the brand’s sporty C-SUV even more competitive and attainable. The entry-level Tonale trim level is followed by the Ti and Veloce versions. The entry level Tonale version is the access point to the Alfa Romeo world offering comprehensive specifications without compromise. Its design features Full LED headlights and taillights with the characteristic 3+3 light signature and 17-inch diamond-cut Aerodinamico wheels. The interior features black fabric and Scuba seats with the Alfa Romeo logo, contrasting Biscotto stitching on the dashboard and door panels, and a leather steering wheel. Technology is at the forefront with a 12.3-inch Telescope digital instrument cluster, Alfa Connect infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display with wireless mirroring, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected services.
Comfort features include a keyless system, the dual-zone automatic climate control with air quality sensor, 60/40 split rear seats with armrest and space for skis, electrochrome interior rearview mirror and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. Safety is ensured by advanced systems such as Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Auto, front and rear parking sensors with rear camera, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Monitoring.
The exterior of the Ti version is distinguished by gloss black window frames and a dedicated badge on the front wing. Inside, the cabin delivers a higher level of comfort with red or black leather seats with eight-way electric adjustment, electric lumbar support, heated and ventilated, together with the steering wheel and heated washer nozzles. The specifications include aluminium paddle shifters for an even more engaging driving experience. At top of the range, the Veloce accentuates the sporty character of the Tonale. The design is enriched with new 19-inch Stile wheels, a dedicated mudguard badge, Full LED Matrix headlights, red Brembo brake calipers, twin chrome tailpipes in the Plug-in Hybrid version, and rear Tonale logo in black. Driving dynamics benefit from ‘DSV’ dual-valve electronic suspension, designed to combine stability, comfort, and precision.
Tonale Sport Speciale, a launch edition that elevates Italian sportiness
Completing the line-up is the Launch Edition, Tonale Sport Speciale, designed to celebrate Italian sportiness at its pinnacle. It is the most exclusive expression of the line-up, with top-of-the-range specification and equipment. On the exterior, standout features include the silver accents on the side skirts and rear bumper, gloss-black Brembo brake calipers, and white Alfa Romeo lettering. Inside, the cabin has exclusive seats in black and white Alcantara, contrasting white stitching and ambient lights with specific visuals on the dashboard. The Sport Speciale offers full customisation options across the entire colour palette, including the option of a contrasting black roof.
