18 July 2025

The Fiat 600 Hybrid has been recognised by EcoCar magazine as ‘Best Mild Hybrid Compact SUV’ in its ‘Electrified Top 50 Awards 2025’. The award underscores Fiat 600’s exceptional combination of style, quality, innovation, and affordability; available with a choice of fully electric or hybrid powertrains, the model is a standout choice for consumers seeking the best value compact SUV in the market.

FIAT remained at the forefront of sustainable urban mobility with last year’s launch of Fiat 600, a significant addition to the brand's lineup and heralding its re-entry into the B-segment of the automotive market. The model offers both style and practicality, with the Dolce Vita ambiance of FIAT seamlessly combining the best features of B and B-SUV silhouettes.

Ian Robertson, editor and publisher of EcoCar, commented: “The Fiat 600 brings grown-up practicality to the brand’s iconic small-car ethos. It’s cheerful, efficient and family-friendly, combining city-friendly dimensions with surprising space and unmistakeable Italian flair. “It’s a great step-up for those that have outgrown their Fiat 500 and, with the hybrid delivering up to 58.9mpg, it suits a variety of budgets and uses. FIAT is onto a winner and the 600 Hybrid fully deserves EcoCar’s ‘Best Mild Hybrid Compact SUV’ award for 2025.”

“We are delighted to receive the award for 2025 ‘Best Mild Hybrid Compact SUV’ from EcoCar for Fiat 600." said Giuseppe Cava, managing director of FIAT UK. "This accolade recognises the many qualities of Fiat 600 and the exceptional value for money that it offers customers. It is available with fully electric and hybrid powertrains, highlighting Fiat’s commitment to deliver innovative and sustainable mobility solutions that exceed consumer expectations."

The Fiat 600 Hybrid is available in a choice of 100hp or 136hp power outputs, a choice designed to meet the varied need of drivers more closely, whilst prioritising sustainability and performance.

In line with FIAT’s commitment to simplicity and efficiency, both hybrid options are offered through the same refined line-up, which features two distinctive trim levels: the standard 600 Hybrid and the premium 600 Hybrid La Prima. With no further options needed, the customer simply chooses power, trim and colour.

Built on the advanced CMP2 platform, the Fiat 600 Hybrid integrates cutting-edge technologies; the 48V powertrain features a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.89kWh and is recharged under certain conditions, while mounted under the front passenger seat, to maximise boot space and optimise handling.

The compact battery combines with a 1.2 litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, specially developed for hybrid applications. The engine is coupled with an electrified six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (e-DCT6). A permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the gearbox and produces peak power of 21kW (28HP) and maximum torque of 55Nm.

For driving that includes urban streets, country roads and motorways, the Fiat 600 Hybrid’s petrol engine and electric motor operate  together or separately to optimise energy consumption and performance. The powertrain is particularly effective in city traffic, as the electric motor allows short distances (up to 1km) to be driven on electric power alone under low torque requirements (e.g., when manoeuvring or under 18mph in urban traffic).

The electric motor also helps the petrol engine by delivering additional torque under acceleration, such as when starting from a standstill. This is beneficial to both driving dynamics and CO2. The 0-62mph times are 10.9 secs for the Hybrid 100HP and 8.5 secs for the Hybrid 136HP, while top speeds are 114mph and 124mph respectively. During deceleration, the petrol engine stops and the e-motor acts as a generator to recharge the hybrid system's 48V battery. The battery also stores the energy recuperated by the regenerative braking system.

The Fiat 600 features a suite of advanced safety and assistance technologies, including level 2 assisted driving, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, and Autonomous Emergency Braking, ensuring a safe and secure driving experience. Moreover, the Fiat 600 sets a new standard for comfort and connectivity with innovative features such as colour therapy ambient lighting, seat adjustment power with back-massage function, and a comprehensive Uconnect system with voice commands and real-time navigation updates.
